Steamed Pork Ribs Rice In lotus Leaves

When anyone talks about pork ribs, the word “steam” almost never comes to mind

Ingredients:

 

— Rice —

  • 1 Cup Rice (short grain)
  • 3 Bay Leaves
  • 3 Star Anise
  • ¼ Sichuan Pepper
  • 1 Tsp Five Spice Powder
  • 1 Tsp White Pepper

 

— Pork —

  • 650 g Pork RIbs
  • 2 Tbs Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tbs Lemon Juice
  • 2 Tsp Garlic (minced)
  • 2 Tsp Sugar

 

— Other —

  • 2 Sweet Potatoes
  • 1 Lotus Leaf

 

 

 

Directions:

 

  1. Boil lotus leaf in water to soften, then set aside.
  2. Toast short grain rice with star anise, bay leaves and Sichuan peppers. Set aside and let cool.
  3. Soak pork ribs for 30 minutes. Season with soy sauce, lemon juice, garlic & sugar then let marinate for 15 minutes.
  4. Add toasted rice along with five spice powder and white pepper to a food processor and pulse. Coat marinated pork ribs with the rice.
  5. Peel and chop two sweet potatoes. To the steamer basket, place lotus leaves at the bottom, then sweet potatoes, then pork ribs.
  6. Cover and steam for 40 minutes. Top with thinly sliced scallions and red peppers.
  7. Serve and enjoy!
